Wesconnett Assembly of God

What a joy it is to introduce you to our church! You’ll discover that our passion is to provide a place where people just like  you can have a life-changing experience  with God.

At Wesconnett Assembly of God, our doors are wide     open to people from all backgrounds, regardless of where they are on their spiritual journey.

In Acts 2:42 we read, "And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers (NKJV). There are four spiritual purposes spoken of in this passage.

First, they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine, which we understand to be a systematic teaching and preaching of God's Word. The first and foremost purpose of the church is  the teaching and preaching of God's Word.  Our Ministry is focused on the Word of God and encouraging people to apply the Word of God to our hearts and lives.

The second purpose of the church is fellowship. Our Lord Jesus created the local church to be a community of believers, a spiritual family: that loves, encourages, and supports each other. Jesus said in Matthew 22:37-40, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.(NKJV)" If we focus on loving God, loving others, encouraging, and building up one another everything else will work out for the glory of God.

Third, the breaking of bread. This to us is a tangible representation of the unity that we share in Christ Jesus for we understand that the bread speaks to us of the body of Christ which was broken for us. God's Word tells us that each time we celebrate the Lord's Supper we proclaim our Lord's until he comes. So the third part of ministry for us is proclaiming Jesus until he comes. This is done through worship, music, evangelism, teaching, missions, fellowship, outreach, and many other ways. Jesus said in John 12:32 - And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." (KJV) We must lift up Jesus in all that we say and do, so the world can see and hear that God is real, and that He lives within our hearts. Our ministry focuses on lifting up and proclaiming Jesus to the church and to a lost and dying world.

The fourth focus of the church is prayer. Through prayer we unite our hearts with God that we might see His will accomplished in us, in our church, in our community, and throughout the world. Our Lord's church is a praying church. Jesus taught us in Mark 11:17, Is it not written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.' We strongly and passionately believe in prayer!

We believe that when the church makes these four things the major activities of the church we will see and experience the blessings of God in our church and in our personal lives. As a result we do not look to the myriad of church growth programs that are being promoted for the building of the church but to Jesus Himself, who said that He would build His church.

We believe in church growth, but kingdom growth is more important. And when you build people, you build the kingdom, and when build the kingdom you build the church. We endeavor to build people by training and equipping the Lord's people for ministry so they, too, can participate in fulfilling the Great Commission and to press onward toward the mark of the high calling of God.
